Waterfalls

Friday was kind of our window of opportunity to get outside...the day was sunny and warm with no rain in sight. We went for our standard 12 mile bike ride down the Munger Trail.

These are my first ever attempts at shooting a waterfall.  It was difficult...the lighting was direct and the woods was full of shadows.

Rain (and more rain)

This was the week of our vacation and it rained and rained.  We ended up getting eleven inches of rain in total this week.

Despite all of the rain and indoor activities, we did manage to have a sleepy Tristan.

Minnesota Wildlife Refuge

We were still in Bloomington on Wednesday morning and we were not really sure what to do with ourselves.  We stopped at Ikea, but left quickly - not the place for Tristan.  So, we stopped at Caribou and picked up a couple of mochas.  While we were there we realized we were right near the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.  This is pretty much a little wildlife oasis right in the middle of an urban development.  We hiked here once before a long time ago, so it was fun to revisit the trails and think back on a few memories.

First, I have a couple of grass shots.  I love taking pictures of grass...I am not really sure why, other than when I view the image, looking at the intricacies of each individual piece is so inspiring for me.  There are so many textures in each shot....I just find the photos so interesting.

Here is Tristan in his new backpack for the very first time.  Adam and I both agree this was one of our best "Tristan" purchases.

A couple of landscape photos - again I like the detail on these...

....and just in case you forgot we were really in the middle of a large city, here is a jet flying overhead.

One last photo that Adam snapped before we left for home. Yes, Tristan is missing his pants...

A Mini Vacation

Adam and I each had a week off together in May.  We decided to go to Minneapolis for a couple of days.  We wanted to get away for a moment and we also wanted to pick up a new hiking back pack for Tristan at REI in Bloomington.

I took these photos at the hotel we happened upon in Bloomington.  Our original plan was to stay at the enormous water park near the Mall of America, but when we arrived, they informed us that the water park was closed.  Instead of staying there we moved on to another hotel and it ended up being very nice.  They had a crib for Tristan, a scaled down version of a water park and we had a balcony overlooking the pool area.

After Tristan went to sleep Adam picked up a bottle of wine from a nearby liquor store and we ordered room service from the restaurant in the hotel.  It ended being a spontaneous and wonderful night. We were able to sit out on the balcony to eat and drink, but we were still able to be close to Tristan in case he woke up. These two pictures are after a bottle of wine and a long day of traveling and shopping.

Munger Trail

Last Saturday evening before I left for Mom and Dad's, I went for a 12 mile bike ride on the Munger Trail.  It had just rained, so all of the leaves and grass were wet and shining in the sunshine.  I snapped a couple of photos with my iphone.

I'm Tired Mom & Dad

When Adam and I were outside cutting the grass one Friday afternoon, we brought Tristan out with us.  He rode around in his stroller while I walked around the yard and weed whipped.  For the most part he quietly watched Adam push the lawn mower around, but by the time we were finished he was all worn out.

You can see in the pictures how tired he was.  Poor baby.

Looking back at Dad...

Tree Tops

I took these pictures of trees in my backyard.   The trees are mostly all green now - every spring I always feel like it is such an amazing experience to watch the trees burst into color within a matter of days.

Sleeping Baby

I only took one photo today.  It was the end of the day and I quickly snapped a picture of Tristan sleeping.  Truly, I never get tired of watching him sleep.

You will see his little Scout dog in the background.  He loves this dog!
